An engineering practice, founder led

Nikhil Mudgal Structural Engineering is an independent structural engineering practice in Kodoli, Kolhapur district, established in 2015. Until 2026 we worked as N M Consultant. The people, the projects and the office are the same; only the name has changed.

Company

City standard structural engineering, practised in our own region

We try to bring the working standard of a Mumbai structural consultancy to projects in Western Maharashtra, the Konkan coast, Goa and North Karnataka: a considered structural scheme at the start, analysis and design that a proof consultant can check, detailed reinforcement drawings, and coordination with the architect, the services consultants and the site until the structure is complete.

Our story has three parts. The engineering standard was formed in Mumbai and Pune, where Nikhil worked as a sub consultant to JW Consultants LLP. Since 2015 the practice has designed a hospital, college and hostel buildings, a hotel, an industrial building and a number of residential towers, and built a small team and a set of clients who come back. What comes next is a wider range of civil and advisory services and, we hope, larger and more demanding projects.

Nikhil Mudgal

M.E. (Structure) · B.E. (Civil) · D.C.E. · Director

Nikhil has practised structural engineering for two decades. Before setting up the practice he worked in Mumbai and Pune as a sub consultant to JW Consultants LLP, where he contributed to more than fifty reinforced concrete design projects. Several were residential towers above 200 metres, for developers including Lodha, Wadhwa, Omkar and Parinee, alongside architects including Reza Kabul, Sanjay Puri and Vivek Bhole. That is where he learnt how tall, heavily serviced buildings are framed, analysed for wind and earthquake, and detailed for ductility.

Since 2015 he has personally directed the structural scheme, the analysis and the design of every project the practice takes on, and he still checks the drawings before they leave the office.

We analyse and design in ETABS, STAAD.Pro and RCDC and draw in AutoCAD. Design follows IS 456 for concrete, IS 875 for loads, IS 1893 for earthquake forces, IS 13920 for ductile detailing and the related Indian Standards.

Approach

Clear scope, documented design, coordinated execution

Scope before fee

Every job starts with a written proposal that says what we will do, what we will deliver, what is excluded, how many site visits are included and when payments fall due.

Design you can check

Loads, load combinations, analysis models and member design are written up in a Design Basis Report and calculation package, so a proof consultant or a municipal authority can follow the design from loads to reinforcement.

Drawings that build

Foundation layout and column schedule first, so excavation can start. Beam and slab reinforcement drawings floor by floor. A complete set of good for construction drawings at the end, with revisions recorded.

Coordination as standard

With the architect from the concept, with the electrical, plumbing and fire consultants through the design, and with the site engineer and contractor through construction. Site queries are answered with sketches and drawings, not only phone calls.
